Roy Keane admits that he has identified the transfer targets he will be pursuing this summer.

The Sunderland boss is expected to be handed a £50million war chest as the Black Cats look to consolidate their status as a Premier League outfit.

The club's owners, the Drumaville Consortium, are fully committed to backing the manager during his summer spending spree, and will refrain from interfering in Keane's plans.

The Irish coach admits that he is fortunate to have a board who are prepared to back his judgement, and revealed that he has set his sights on a number of seasoned top flight performers.

Politics

"I look at other clubs and count my blessings," Keane told the Sunday Sun.

"We have good politics here. It is common sense that it is my list of targets and my team.

"We want to progress and the structure here is good. I have been backed."

On his targets, Keane added: "I probably have five or six in mind, it's a small list.

"The majority of the players I'm interested in are very much players who have played a lot of games in the Premier League, that's what our team has lacked."
